So Pouya got his b-day gift from us today… a shiny new G-TECH/Pro racing meter. Its kinda hard to explain what it does, but it’ll measure stuff like 0-60 times… 1/4mile times.. 0-60 braking distance.. measure Lateral or Longitudinal G’s… maximum delivered horsepower… etc… its a clever little device.

All in all it makes you feel better about the crazy-expensive car you bought… *COUGH* pouya *COUGH*… ‘cuz everyone always wonders if it can really go as fast as the brochure said.. 🙂

The CLK55AMG did the 0-60 in about 5.5s and back to 0 in about 120ft…. my Toyota did in 6.82s and 139ft. Maybe a supercharger is in my future someday… 😀

Its amazing how stuff comes together sometimes… just the other day, a friend of mine was talking about building a potato cannon… then on TSS I see this segment... and then I IM’ed a link to the book out my peeps.. and in 30mins it should be here in my apartment… So in a little bit, we’ll have a random geek (me), and certified ME… and a pissed off, vengeful dude coming over… this should be fun.

I admit it – I’ve NEVER owned a game console before in my life… not a PS2… not a Nintendo… not even an Atari 2600… But this Xbox is pretty kick-ass.

Now that I’ve got a ModChip installed in it, I can use it as a media station to play video, display pics, and play MP3’s… I can play DVD’s without having to buy the DVD remote kit… I can even boot Linux if I want.

Now I need to go find a 120gig drive to put in this puppy so I can load it up with stuff… pics here.

Ah… its 83deg… after being strapped in a flying tin-can for since 7am EST I decided that there’s nothing like rocketing down Hwy281 with the sunroof open and the stereo blaring P.O.D. at 105mph… WOOHOO!

Its 11:30pm… 1st off, I’m completely exhausted… 2ndly, I just found out that we have to be on the curb to get driven to JFK by 5am. How much does that suck?

So we’re madly packing trying to get in bed ASAP.

Anyhow… The conference is over (for us) and Dirk had a packed house for his BoF speak.

A whole bunch of us ended up having a pretty amazing dinner at the RedEye Grill.

I have lots of pics and lots of funny stories, but I just can’t keep my eyes open to put them up right now… maybe tomorrow.

In NYC, it seems that if you tell your old friends you’re in town – They never call back. What’s with that?

So if you wanna have fun in this town you gotta go get it done yourself… So Dirk and I went out… and had a good time…

Korean Food at Gam Mee Ok People claim they have the best Kimchee in town – I have to say that is pretty good. Well… As the saying goes – its not as good as Mom’s, but its pretty good. 🙂 Oh – and of course, we sipped on some Jinro Sojoo and finished off with a giant bottle of OB.

We stopped by the Korean dessert place on the way out – which was nothing spectacular but it was charming that I could speak Korean in there too.

Ended up watching Malibu’s Most Wanted, which I have to say is was much better than Old School. “Why you gotta be hate’n?!”

And then Dirk introduced me to the White Castle Slider… I gotta say, thats one fucking kick ass hamburger. 4 bites and its gone… we also witnessed a pile of kids order 50 bux worth of the stuff… FIFTY DOLLARS worth of hamburgers! My god – and people wonder why our kids are obese!

Now working… If you’re ever asked to work with ARIN, go into the next room and stab yourself in the leg… perhaps that’ll get you out of dealing with such craziness.

DDR… beer… good food… cheesecake… what more could you want?

Happy Easter folks…

I’m still up… I bet the sun is going to come up soon.

I spent the night trying to get this SnapStream Media Server working…. it promises to make your PC run like a TiVo. It works – ALMOST. It seems I can’t get the audio to sync with the video… dunno how to fix it. [grumble]

I’m tired – I’m going to bed.

So everyone wants an update on my past week, particularly about Seattle… Well… basically – I had a blast. I gotta say – Seattle is a kick-ass town.

Lets see… lots of good food.. some notable places were Noodle Ranch and the Palisade… actually, the Palisade was awesome. And of course, the ever popular Ohana. There were others but I don’t remember the names… [shock]

Went to a Mariner’s game… which was interesting since I hadn’t been to a baseball game in 20 years… Its amazing how many of the rules I had forgotten… Luckily Carlie is a baseball nut and humored every question I could throw at her. It was a lot of fun.

Ran into Dirk and Annie at an RUR performance. Lots of digicams floating around at that event… here are some, and some others. And get this – they played a cover of Peter Schilling‘s “Major Tom“!! – I was very excited about this.

Did some window shopping… picked up some books… helped Carlie upgrade her TiVo with Wifi and Home Media Option – which she loves… (Maybe TiVo will make it after all…)

All in all it was very relaxing despite the fact I had to work some while I was there. Everyone should visit Seattle sometime in their lives… 😀

I have experienced Tivo’s Home Media Option tonight… and it was good. I’m impressed…. Its $100. Its worth it if you have a large MP3 collection or lots of digital photos.

I haven’t tried the multi-room viewing yet since this paritcular installation only had one Tivo, but I imagine it works as advertised.

There are lots of you out there running 802.11b wireless access points in your homes… and I also know that lots of your are guilty of not running WEP on them… This probably seems pretty harmless – I mean your data is not that important so if people sniff your traffic you don’t really care… and what if random people can just hop onto your cablemodem connection, its all about community access right?

Intitally, these thoughts are probably kosher at first glance… the problem is that there are tons of jackasses out there looking for wide-open WiFi access points so they can send out SPAM… you got it, they’re gonna use your connection to send out SPAM… and in the end it’ll probably cause you a huge headache as you explain to your ISP that you are not a spammer…
