{"id":1933,"date":"2006-02-17T12:36:33","date_gmt":"2006-02-17T22:36:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.riggedup.net\/?p=1933"},"modified":"2006-02-17T17:42:40","modified_gmt":"2006-02-17T22:42:40","slug":"headset","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.riggedup.net\/blog\/2006\/02\/17\/headset\/","title":{"rendered":"Headset"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had been looking for a new phone headset and I had a few minimum requirements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wired &#8211; No Bluetooth &#8211; I love BT, but I don&#8217;t want to carry (yet another) charger with me<\/li>\n<li>Boom Mic &#8211; I hate the dangling mic on the cord, and I think that mics in the ear-piece still pick up too much noise (no matter what noise canceling tech is being used)<\/li>\n<li>Easy to carry &#8211; I have been carrying a GN Netcom headset around with me, and its been great but its a bit of a pain to carry around with its metal headband and all.<\/li>\n<li>Sufficient volume &#8211; The main problem I&#8217;ve been having with cell phones is that its difficult to hear the other person on the with so much background noise in the car or whever I may be at the time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Speaking of volume &#8211; the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geek.com\/news\/geeknews\/2005Mar\/bpd20050426030212.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Treo 650 I had was barely audible <\/a>in a car or airport with the volume cranked (even with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gotreosoftware.com\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">Volumecare<\/a>), and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geek.com\/hwswrev\/pda\/wizard\/\" target=\"_blank\">I-mate K-Jam<\/a> I have right now is better, but not much of an improvement.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of trying to boost the audio, I decided that maybe blocking out the ambient noise was better&#8230;  While I was at CES this January, I had the chance to stop by the Shure booth and play with some of their newest sound-isolating ear-buds.  I own a set of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shurestore.com\/earphones\/eseries_e2c.html\" target=\"_blank\">E2c ear-buds<\/a> and I love them.  So I wondered if they made phone headsets &#8211; and it turns out they do!<\/p>\n<p>You can read about them here:  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shurestore.com\/quietspot\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Headsets For Mobile Phones<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/riggedup.textamerica.com\/?r=4250348\" target=\"_blank\">Mine came in today<\/a>, and so far, I love it&#8230; it has a real boom mic, and its light-weight, and since it blocks out all the other noises around me I have to turn the volume down on my phone to its lowest setting so it won&#8217;t blast my ear.
