{"id":58,"date":"2003-04-10T02:55:08","date_gmt":"2003-04-10T07:55:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.richardyoo.com\/blog\/?p=58"},"modified":"2003-04-10T02:55:08","modified_gmt":"2003-04-10T07:55:08","slug":"wifi-encryption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.riggedup.net\/blog\/2003\/04\/10\/wifi-encryption\/","title":{"rendered":"WIFI Encryption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/www.riggedup.net\/archives\/wifi_logo.gif\" width=\"150\" height=\"84\" border=\"0\">There are lots of you out there running 802.11b wireless access points in your homes&#8230; and I also know that lots of your are guilty of not running <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webopedia.com\/TERM\/W\/WEP.html\" target=\"_blank\">WEP<\/a> on them&#8230; This probably seems pretty harmless &#8211; I mean your data is not that important so if people sniff your traffic you don&#8217;t really care&#8230; and what if random people can just hop onto your cablemodem connection, its all about community access right?<\/p>\n<p>Intitally, these thoughts are probably kosher at first glance&#8230; the problem is that there are tons of jackasses out there looking for wide-open WiFi access points so they can send out SPAM&#8230; you got it, they&#8217;re gonna use your connection to send out SPAM&#8230; and in the end it&#8217;ll probably cause you a huge headache as you explain to your ISP that you are not a spammer&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t believe me?
